Well, it was fun to be back at the Dukes Mayo Bowl with fans! If you remember, in 2020 we didn’t have any fans due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We had the great honor to be back on the field welcoming back a pair of familiar teams in the University of North Carolina Tarheels vs. the University of South Carolina Gamecocks.
In addition to this :60 recap of the bowl, we also produced short-form content, photos, and even a welcome message from the CEO of Duke’s Mayo, which aired for millions of college football fans on ESPN.

From COVID-19 testing to dealing with an empty stadium, covering this game was far different than our previous adventures with the Charlotte Sports Foundation. Due to safety protocols, access to the field was limited to just three team members with others filming in the stands. We also set up an editing station in the auxiliary press box, which sped up the process by having a dedicated runner responsible for bringing the editor footage.
2020 Project Overview
How do you recap a football game with no fans? That was the question we asked ourselves prior to the 2020 Duke’s Mayo Bowl. The answer? Leaning into what we do best: capturing the incredible athleticism, subtle motions, and most importantly, the passion that makes college football so special.
In addition to this :60 recap of the bowl, we also produced short-form content, photos, and even a welcome message from the CEO of Duke’s Mayo, which aired for millions of college football fans on ESPN.
